Gift Terms
A month on you, just to say glad you're here. These are the rules behind it.
At a glance
- $19.99, one-time, paid through Apple. Not a subscription.
- Anonymous or with your name. One gift per member.
- The recipient has 7 days to accept. If they don't, the month comes back to you as a credit.
- A gift never opens a chat. A named gift allows one "thank you" back.
- Refunds are handled by Apple.
1. What a gift is
A gift is one month of Belavo membership that you buy for another member for $19.99 through Apple In-App Purchase. It is a one-time payment, not a subscription, and it does not change your own subscription. These Gift Terms are part of the Terms of Service.
2. Who can send and receive
Only members with an active membership (including during a free trial) can send a gift, and only to members they can see in the app. You may send one gift to any given member. A gift is not a message: it does not open a chat, and the recipient cannot reply to it, except that a named gift lets the recipient send you one "thank you". Gifts cannot be sent to a member who has blocked you or whom you have blocked.
3. Anonymous or named
You choose when you send. An anonymous gift never shows your name to the recipient, in the app or in any notification. A named gift shows your name and uses one of your five daily notes. You may add a message of up to 140 characters; it is subject to the Community Guidelines, is checked automatically, and may be removed if it breaks them.
4. Accepting a gift
The recipient has 7 days from delivery to accept. Acceptance is confirmed with Apple. Once accepted, the recipient's next monthly renewal is free and their subscription continues afterwards at their usual price. A recipient who is on a free trial receives the free month after the trial ends. If the recipient declines, or does not accept within 7 days, you are never told that they declined.
5. Unaccepted gifts and credits
A gift that is not accepted within 7 days returns to you as a credit for one month. You may give the credit to another member or apply it to your own membership. Credits do not expire while your account exists, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be transferred outside the app. If your account is erased, unused credits are forfeited and any gift you sent that has not yet been accepted is cancelled.
6. Refunds
Refunds are decided and issued by Apple under its App Store policies; Belavo cannot issue refunds. A gift that the recipient has already accepted cannot be refunded. To request a refund for an unaccepted gift, use reportaproblem.apple.com; if Apple refunds it, the credit is removed from your account.
7. Misuse
Gifts are a kindness, not a transaction. Gifts used to pressure, harass, solicit or follow up on a member, gifts sent repeatedly through new accounts, or gift messages that break the Community Guidelines may be cancelled, and the sender may be removed from Belavo. Recipients can report an unwanted gift from the gift screen; reports are anonymous.
8. Taxes
Where Apple collects sales tax on in-app purchases, it is added at checkout according to your billing address.
9. Changes
We may change the gift price or these terms with 30 days' notice in the app or by email. Changes do not affect gifts already sent.
