Delete Your Account
Need a break? Pausing hides you without losing anything. Leaving for good? Here is exactly what happens.
Pause
Where: Settings › Account status › Pause my account. Choose 1 week, 1 month, or until you're back.
While paused you are hidden from everyone's five and no new notes reach you. Your evidence, photos, places, notes, chats, groups and connections stay exactly as they were, and members you are already connected with can still message you. Your membership keeps renewing while paused; to stop paying, cancel in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions.
Delete
Where: Settings › Account status › Delete my account. You can also email [email protected] from your account email and we will start deletion for you.
- Right away: your profile is hidden from everyone. Open chats close for you and your name shows as a deleted member to others.
- For 30 days: everything is kept but hidden. If you sign in, deletion is cancelled and everything is restored exactly as you left it. We show the deletion date on the confirmation screen.
- After 30 days: deletion is final and your data is erased on the schedule below. Nothing can be restored.
Your Apple subscription is separate. Deleting your Belavo account does not cancel it. Cancel in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions before or after deleting, or Apple will keep charging you. Refunds are handled by Apple. Uninstalling the app does neither.
What is erased

Messages you sent remain visible to the people you sent them to, shown as from a deleted member, until their own accounts are deleted.
What is kept, and why
- Enforcement records (reports, blocks, bans, and a hashed form of the email and device identifiers of banned accounts) for up to 5 years, so banned people cannot return and so we can respond to legal claims.
- Apple transaction records for 7 years, for tax and accounting.
- Content under a legal hold, for as long as the hold lasts.
- Your consent record for the face check, for 3 years, to evidence compliance.
Gifts and credits
Unused gift credits are forfeited when your account is erased. A gift you sent that has not yet been accepted is cancelled. A gift you accepted keeps applying to your Apple subscription until you cancel it.
