Accessibility Statement
Belavo should work for everyone who wants to be here. This is where we stand and how to tell us when we fall short.
1. Our commitment
Dopin LLC d/b/a Belavo is committed to making the Belavo iOS app and belavo.app accessible to people with disabilities, in line with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and California's Unruh Civil Rights Act. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA for the website, and to Apple's Human Interface Guidelines for accessibility in the app.
2. What we do
- App. VoiceOver labels on every control, including icon-only tab-bar buttons; Dynamic Type support; minimum 44×44 pt touch targets; Reduce Motion respected for all animations, including the intro and entrance effects; Increase Contrast respected; captions on evidence videos where members provide them; a text alternative for every image a member can act on.
- Website. Semantic HTML, a skip link, keyboard-reachable navigation with visible focus, text that scales to 200% without loss, color contrast of at least 4.5:1 for body text on our dark background, no information conveyed by color alone, and no motion that cannot be paused.
- Face check. The selfie step is guided by spoken and written prompts. If a disability prevents you from completing it (for example, a condition that affects head movement or facial features), contact us and a member of our team will verify you by a video call instead, under the same Biometric Data Policy.
- Testing. We test with VoiceOver, Switch Control, Voice Control and keyboard-only navigation before each release, and we run automated accessibility checks on the website.
3. Known limitations
We are a small team and some things are not finished:
- Evidence videos uploaded by members do not yet support closed captions or audio descriptions beyond the member's caption text.
- Voice messages in chat do not yet offer automatic transcription.
- Some third-party map imagery does not expose text alternatives.
We update this list as items are fixed.
4. Tell us
If you have trouble using any part of Belavo, or want this or any policy in an alternative format (large print, plain text, audio), email [email protected] or write to Dopin LLC d/b/a Belavo, 254 Chapman Rd, Ste 208 #25323, Newark, DE 19702. Please tell us the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you use. We respond within 5 business days and aim to fix barriers within 30 days.
5. Formal complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division at ada.gov or the California Civil Rights Department at calcivilrights.ca.gov.
